Past Cyclone Disaster

In May 2021, India was hit by a powerful cyclone named Cyclone Yaas. The cyclone made landfall on the eastern coast of India, affecting the states of West Bengal and Odisha. The cyclone brought heavy rainfall, strong winds, and storm surges, causing widespread damage and displacement.

According to reports, at least two people were killed, and several others were injured due to the cyclone. Thousands of people were evacuated from their homes in low-lying areas to safer places ahead of the cyclone's landfall to prevent casualties.

The cyclone caused extensive damage to the infrastructure, including roads, buildings, and power lines. Many trees were uprooted, and houses were damaged due to the strong winds. The heavy rainfall caused flooding in many areas, leading to waterlogging and disruption of normal life.

The Indian government, along with the local authorities, launched a massive relief and rescue operation to help the affected people. Rescue teams were deployed to the affected areas to provide assistance to the people in need. The government also set up relief camps to provide shelter and food to those who were displaced due to the cyclone.
